Rega Aethos – A musical demonstration of power
You can’t accuse Rega of following the norm, because the Aethos is a full-blooded analogue amp in a digital age, built around Rega’s multi award-winning and cheaper Elex-R and Elicit-R. At first, therefore, it can be hard to see why you should choose to buy Rega’s Aethos, but that’s only just until you’ve heard it. In fact, Aethos delivers a class-leading combination of insight, rhythm, precision, detail and agility that is only possible because Rega has been completely uncompromising in their choice of components. Rega has equipped the Aethos with eight 160 watt 16 amp Sanken Darlington output transducers, capable of delivering 156 W per channel into 6 ohms. In other words, there’s a lot of energy behind Aethos Watts, and it’s evident in the lively lightness with which Aethos renders the music.

Innovative design solutions
Rega has put their resources into developing the circuit and design using high quality components throughout. Rega has integrated the headphone jack so that the speaker switching is performed by an outpout mute relay, which does not affect the signal path and degrades the sound quality.
Rega has equipped the preamplifier with a discrete Class-A circuit with FETs that ensure minimal noise and maximum dynamics, creating a music experience that is as authentic as possible. Another innovation is Rega’s unique dual mono circuitry, which uses a custom-built toroidal transformer and regulated supplies for the sensitive output and driver stages, allowing the Aeothos to reproduce the music with the exuberance that it does.
