Rega Planar 10 – Perhaps the best turntable in the high-end class
The new Planar 10 is Rega’s best and most advanced turntable to date! If you don’t count their 300.000 DKK Naiad reference turntable, which is reserved for the few. So when we’re talking turntables that are in the realistic high-end class, Planar 10 is among the most ultimate you can get. So much so that Rega was already considered to have built one of the best turntables in the world with their earlier RP10. Now they have built the new Planar 10, which is a significantly improved version with new power supply, tonearm, plinth and tonearm. Can you imagine how good the new turntable sounds then? We can reveal it – it’s close to Naiad at a fraction of the price!

Solutions direct from Rega’s £300,000 reference turntable
Planar 10 continues from the same recipe as Rega’s Planar 8. This means that Planar 10 is built on the philosophy and solutions of the flagship Naiad but at a completely different price. The result is a turntable built with a plinth of the ultra-light and rigid Trancast 8 material, also seen in the aerospace industry for its incredible durability and low weight. This foam not only makes Planar 10 a lighter, stronger and more stable turntable than its smaller siblings, it also eliminates vibrations because the random structure of the foam means there are no obvious paths for them to travel.
Another element that has been made significantly harder on the new Planar 10 is its bracing between the tone arm and the centre bearing, which is now made of ceramic, which is also used on the platter. What makes ceramics so special is that it is the second hardest material – second only to pure diament! The centre bearing has also been upgraded to be even more frictionless, and along with the all-new RB3000 tonearm, all friction and blur is eliminated, so you can experience the music as it was meant to sound.
The RB3000 tonearm takes sound to new heights
Rega has always been known for delivering incredibly accurate bearings, and with the RB3000 arm they’ve set a new standard for how good a tonearm can be. Friction is now at such a low level that it’s hard to imagine it getting much better. The result is that the new centre bearing and RB3000 have as few interconnections as possible, so there are fewer joints to create friction.
New motor system and power supply
It’s not just the Planar 10 plinth that effectively eliminates vibration – so does Rega’s innovative motor system, which they’ve managed to mount on the plinth in a very special way. The fitted 24V low vibration motor is of the highest quality, and in addition the brand new Planar 10 linear power supply is custom made to match the motor, ensuring minimum wow and flutter. The power supply is a top-of-the-line version of the Neo PSU for Planar 8, with the phase of the voltage adjusted to match the Planar 10’s motor, thus avoiding the vibrations emitted when a motor is not phase-corrected.
As the icing on the cake, Rega can be purchased with the incredibly accurate Apheta 3 pickup or Rega’s finest Aphellion pickup. These pickups ensure that you can take advantage or the improvements that Rega has created with the new Planar 10, giving you an absolutely magical result.
